Mr. Elias Wranga

“We didn’t just build a school. We built a movement.”

In 2010, from the quiet town of Kiunga in Western Province, a bold vision was born. Mr. Elias Wranga, a passionate science teacher, and his wife Glancy saw the limitations of rote learning and the urgent need for a new kind of education—one that empowered children to think, create, and lead.

With just K200 and a whiteboard under their house, they began teaching a handful of students using practical, hands-on methods. No funding. No formal support. Just conviction, community, and a dream.

That dream grew into the Cross Country School of Excellence, and later evolved into STEM AIE Education—a pioneering institution rooted in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, Agriculture, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship.

Through droughts, criticism, and financial hardship, the Wranga family persisted. They built classrooms from sago leaves, fed workers from their garden, and turned every challenge into fuel for their mission. Their resilience became the foundation of a school that now inspires students across Papua New Guinea.

Today, STEM AIE is more than a school. It’s a national movement. Our students win awards, launch businesses, and lead community projects. Our curriculum blends global innovation with local relevance. And our vision continues to grow—with plans for STEM AIE Academy and eventually PNG’s first entrepreneurship-focused university.
